Desuggestopaedia
Georgi Lozanov developed this method of teaching which is concerned with the learning environment. He asserted that DeSuggestopaedia had been taken over by language teachers, due to its efficacy, but had been designed to teach anything. The method states that people must be relaxed, and have their 'effective filters' lowered. He noted that pictures round the walls in primary classrooms were subliminally used to develop reading. When the pictures were used: the students were able to recognise the words. When the words were used: the learners were able to read them quickly. Some proponents of this method use yoga or stretching at the start of the class to relax their students. The teacher reads a passage to the accompaniment of soft music, as part of the proceedings.
