- Is the technique or topic relevant to their lives?
- Is it presented in a positive, enthusiastic way?
- Are students aware of the purpose of what they are being asked to do?
- Do students get given choice in choosing some aspects of the lesson content or techniques?
- Are the students asked to determine principles or rules for themselves, rather than just being told?
- Are students encouraged to develop strategies for effective communication?
- Does it contribute to a degree of independence from their teacher?
- Is it truly interactive? does it foster cooperation between students?
